DYNAMICS OF MAGNETIC-SUSPENSION TRANSPORT ROLLING STOCK
Some dynamics and stabilization problems associated with development of rolling stock for high-speed passenger transport systems employing a magnetic suspension with small working gap (an electromagnetic suspension) are considered. Methods for assuring motion stability, adaptation of the suspension system to deviations of the magnetic rail from the ideal, and filtering of disturbances are discussed. "Magnetic skids" are proposed as a suspension system that permits simultaneous solution of all these problems; they carry electromagnetics that are connected to the body by viscoelastic links. A mathematical formulation is given for the dynamics and stabilization problems associated with a magnetic skid.
