INITIAL EXPERIENCES WITH THE USE OF ON-BOARD MICROCOMPUTERS FOR OPTIMUM USE OF ENERGY ON THE BERLIN S-BAHN (DR)
ERSTE ERFAHRUNGEN ZUM EINSATZ VON BORD-MIKRORECHNERN FUER EINEN ENERGIEOPTIMALEN ZUGBETRIEB BEI DER S-BAHN BERLIN
A control system has been developed using the ZE 1 microcomputer designed and manufactured by Robotron for energy-efficient operation of the Berlin urban and suburban rail network (S-Bahn). Experience acquired during an intensive test period showed that modern microcomputer can be used on vehicles which were not originally designed to meet current requirements in the field of automation. They also proved that savings of 12 to 17 & 17 can be made in locomotive power consumption.
