AM INTERVIEW: RAY PECK--NHTSA'S NEW ADMINISTRATOR SHARES HIS VIEWS ON THE AGENCY'S GOALS AND ON MOTORCYCLE SAFETY
In this interview, Ray Peck, Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), shares his views on the agency's goals and on motorcycle safety. The purpose of the interview was to try to learn a bit about the man and his personal opinions, but, more importantly, his feelings about the proper role NHTSA can, and should play, in motorcycle safety. The interviewer indicates that Mr. Peck stresses the subject of driver and rider behaviour on the highway, rather than seeking out technological breakthroughs in prevention of accidents, or in prevention of injuries, once accidents have occurred.
