DYNAPLATE CONTAMINATION TESTS ON GEOTEXTILES

ESSAIS DE CONTAMINATION DES GEOTEXTILES A LA DYNAPLAQUE

This note describes the test used to control the anticontaminating property of geotextiles under traffic loads and the results of tests obtained with some types of geotextile. The test consists in applying stresses with the dynaplate on a clean gravel layer laid on a support mass of silt with a very low bearing capacity, the upper layer of which has a moisture content equal to that of the liquid limit; the geotextile is placed between the gravel layer and the silt. Up to 128 impacts are applied in the tests. The contamination of the gravel is controlled by means of grading analyses. (TRRL)
