FABRIC REINFORCED EARTH WALLS
Following an earlier article by RT Murray on fabric reinforcement of earth walls, the authors present a discussion on strain calculations for fabric reinforced earth structures. In their opinion strain calculations proposed, based on the elastic properties of the reinforcing fabrics, take no account of either construction sequence or method of forming the wall face. Reinforcing fabric strain is derived from incremental calculations based on soil and fabric properties having regard to plant and construction sequence used. The discussion concludes with a reply by RT Murray concerning fabric strains induced by depth of fill. (TRRL)
