MONTHLY MANAGEMENT REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Well designed monthly management reports are an essential component of both internal and external communication in a transit system. They present a balanced picture of the system as a whole, through appropriate statistics and performance indicators, to top management of larger transit systems who are not able to observe system performance directly, as well as to the board members of smaller systems where anecdotal feedback received may be biased and not representative of the whole picture. This report reviews the format of a good management report and the major components of statistics, finance, and performance indicators.
