NEW PLANNING MODELS FOR URBAN TRANSPORT

NUOVI MODELLI DI PROGRAMMAZIONE DEL TRANSPORTO URBANO

The emphasis of this article is that the improvement and modernisation of individual transport modes will continue to be inadequate for urban requirements unless more attention is paid to integrating the different modes, one with the other. A review of planning strategies contains six chapters: (1) introduction; (2) equilibrium in the taxi service market; (3) the optimization of modal change in an interactive system for transport planning; (4) "para transit" planning for urban business centres; (5) evaluation and comparison of alternative transport plans; and (6) criteria and operation of an urban transport planning system.
