Anisotropy Influence on the Impact Energy Evaluation for Different Steel Specifications Used in Automotive Wheels Manufacturing
Wheels for commercial application work under different loading spectrum and fatigue cracks appear on different areas on the wheel (disc and/ or rim). The anisotropy influence shows that the performance on fatigue for different kind of material used for wheel manufacturing can be change. In this work the impact resistance study for different materials in two directions transversal and longitudinal, was conduct the results of the impact resistance tests are evaluated and a comparison for the results and the fatigue resistance is established once energy and the fracture resistance have a strong relationship. For the conclusions the Forman laws is applied to compare the resistance on fatigue as a function of impact resistance and the best material is indicate for the wheel manufacturing material.
