SURVEY OF STATE INVOLVEMENT IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The range of public transportation services offered and the methods for financing them are described in this third annual survey which includes all 50 states, District of Columbia, Virgin Islands and Alberta, Canada. More than 1,000 transit systems with 70,000 vehicles are providing public transportation. Ridesharing programs are offered in over 250 cities or regions with 750 companies sponsoring vanpool programs. States have built 1,000 commuter parking facilities.
