Practical Safety Solutions for Local and Tribal Roads: A Human Factors Approach
Human factors principles explain how road users gather information, make sense of that information, make decisions, and execute actions when traveling on the roadways. Understanding these principles can assist in identifying safety issues and selecting the most effective countermeasures to address those issues on local and tribal roads. Using plain language, this report provides the practitioner with information on the effects of road users actions on roadway safety and how, when, and where to use this information to improve safety on their roadways. The information provided is not a substitute but a complement to technical information found in other documents. Throughout the report references are provided.
