ROAD SIDE MARKING POLES IN REGIONS WITH PLENTY OF SNOW
KANTSTOLPAR I SNOERIKA TRAKTER
Four types of road side marking poles for use in the winter were tested - three types of plastic poles and the traditional bamboo stick. The durability and need for washing were investigated. The effect of the poles' different luminous arrangement was especially investigated. The results show that the poles should be placed one metre from the road surfacing edge to minimize damage. The bamboo stick is long enough not to be hidden under the snow. The fitting of the reflector must however be improved. The bamboo stick is the cheapest alternative but has a lower daylight effect that the other poles. (TRRL)
