URBAN TRAFFIC SURVEY

The report briefly describes the processing, analysis, usage, and distribution off traffic data collected in the Perth metropolitan area by the Main Roads Department of Western Australia over the 1980/81 financial year. The objective of the project was to provide up to date information on traffic for the purpose of road planning, road design, traffic management, Australian road needs surveys, and compiling programme submissions to the Commonwealth Government. The types of surveys undertaken included vehicle counts by both manual and automatic recorder methods, and surveys involving the measurement of pedestiran movements, vehicle delay and queue lengths, travel times, vehicle origins and destinations, vehicle classifications, and driver/pedestrian behaviour.
