25th Annual Highway Report
This annual report ranks State highway systems by 13 categories based on spending and performance data submitted to the federal government by state highway agencies. It reviews highway performance in 2018 and highway performance trends, 2015-2018, including mileage under state control; disbursements per mile; pavement condition; fatality rates; urbanized area congestion; and percentage of poor condition bridges. It discusses system performance problems overall and by state. This year’s leading States in overall highway performance, based on 2018 and 2019 data, are North Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, and Idaho.
