SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE FOR THE TRAFFIC ANALYSIS AND DISPLAY SYSTEM OF THE SAN FRANCISCO VESSEL TRAFFIC SYSTEM

The Traffic Analysis and Display (TAD) system for the San Francisco Experimental Vessel Traffic System (VTS) was designed to enable operators to obtain position, speed, and identification information on vessels of interest more accurately and quickly than was previously possible from manual systems. The basic system is described in other documents. However, a short description of the operator consoles is given here for clarity, followed by a description of the software in terms of present capability and expandability.
