WEIGHING MASTER PLAN
This paper is divided into the following parts: (1) general consideration, (2) reasons to implement the weighing master plan, and (3) operational development program. The federal highway department in Brazil, has created an extensive program in order to control the vehicles cargo weight load utilizing the federal highway network. By using this system the axle load of the vehicles in motion can be checked. The aim of the plan is to lessen the wear of special construction work and paved roads as well as reduce fuel operational costs. It has also been helping the highway maintenance, the air pollution and cargo vehicle lifetime. At the first phase the weighing stations were installed and the second phase included the implantation of mobile weighing stations. Finally the operational program is described and the actual situation of the implantation is presented. (a) (TRRL)
