EXPERIMENTS ON 20 HYBRID ELECTRO-BUSES FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES

VERSUCHSEINSATZ VON 20 HYBRID-ELEKTROBUSSEN IM OEFFENTLICHEN LINIENVERKEHR

Within the framework of a five year long model experiment 20 hybrid electro-buses with related maintenance equipment were tested whilst on actual route service in the cities of Stuttgart and Wesel. The purpose of the test is to test a flexible public transport system which is environmentally acceptable using a battery-electric powered route bus, which has a power unit suitable with electric secondary energy, thus contributing to the general effort to conserve fuel oil which is becoming increasingly more scarce. The test arrangements are described and a report is given on the test conditions. Using running results from the initial phase of the route application the first details of the sequence of operations are described. In addition possibilities for optimising the operational conditions are shown. (TRRL)
