MEASUREMENTS OF THE REYNOLDS STRESS TENSOR IN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYER
Hot film anemometer measurements of all six unknown elements of the Reynolds stress tensor are reported for a three-dimensional turbulent boundary layer with increasing secondary flow. The measurements were made through the boundary layer as tensor profiles at one upstream two-dimensional location and at six locations along the centerline of the floor of a curved duct of rectangular cross section. The development and relative magnitudes of the various shear and normal stresses are documented so that the influence of the increasing secondary flow magnitude can be observed.
