FIBER OPTIC TECHNOLOGY IN ELECTRIC RAILROADS
LICHTLEITERTECHNIK AUF ELEKTRISCHEN BAHNEN
The advantages of using optical fibers are pointed out. A fiber optic transmission system for train control was developed in Berlin (Germany) in association with the local municipal transport authorities (BVG). The system undergoes tests within an underground multiple unit.
