ROLE OF SIMULATION IN TRAFFIC ENGINEERING (THOUGHTS ON ACCEPTING AND USING NEW ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES)

These thoughts on the acceptance and use of simulation techniques notes that simulation offers a better way to comparatively evaluate alternate solutions to a problem or competing solutions to several problems. It is also noted that communication can break down barriers to the acceptance of new simulation techniques. Recommendations are suggested that would improve the dialogue between users and model developers. Conferences and meetings are useful if developers articulate their thoughts and the product of discussions are made available to practitioners in the field.
