THE MECHANISM(S) OF FAILURE OF ROCK MATERIALS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTIONS
Modes of failure are discussed and related where possible to mechanisms. The characteristics of some typical Australian rocks are outlined. The methods of test used in Australia to identify particular rock properties are briefly discussed in relation to the evaluation of specification writing (A). (TRRL)
