STANDARDISED EVALUATION OF INVESTMENT IN ROUTES FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT - A STATE-OF-THE-ART REPORT

STANDARDISIERTE BEWERTUNG VON VERKEHRSWEGEINVESTITIONEN DES OEFFENTLICHEN PERSONENNAHVERKEHRS - EIN SACHSTANDSBERICHT

In order to ensure that investment provided for public transport through the community transport financing laws is sufficient for economic requirements, cost-benefit analyses are carried out for each project. These profitability evaluations have in recent years been carried out with standardised evaluation criteria. Following some test-runs the evaluation method has been improved. For future investment policy public transport is preferred. The extension of public transport systems is to be financed from income from taxes on mineral oils. In future a greater use of bus systems is envisaged to provide adequate transport connections for rural areas. (TRRL)
