POLLUTION CONTROL IN MARINE INDUSTRIES--1974

The proceedings cover international efforts to control marine pollution; Great Lakes pollution control progress including ships' sewage treatment; DOD and Coast Guard programs; tanker pollution prevention and port facilities programs to handle oily waste and oil spills; air pollution and noise problems in the marine industry; the environmental impact of oil spills and dry bulk transfer facilities; a review of U.K. and Canadian efforts in curbing pollution from vessels including the United Nations environmental program data base on global pollution monitoring and the global environmental monitoring system (GEMS); the final section deals with the U.S. pollution R&D programs of the Maritime Administration, Coast Guard and the sanitary engineering aspects of dredged material by the Corps of Engineers.
