WHAT TO EXPECT ON SULPHUR/ASPHALT JOBS
Good planning and supervision in the plant and on the jobsite are critical to the success of road jobs using sulphur-extended asphalt. Inadequate production of sulphur in eastern Canada, price and temperature in the batch plant are present problems. But, since sulphur/asphalt can help reduce road costs, roadbuilders can expect more of this work. Sulphur/asphalt material was found to perform as well as any conventional material, and in cold weather too. The major precaution is that the mixing temperature in the batch plant must not be too high. (TRRL)
