HYDRAULIC PLACEMENT OF BRIDGE APPROACHES ELIMINATES ALL NEED FOR COMPACTION

There is a new method of building bridge approaches which has proved to be far more economical than the conventional method of trucking material from borrow pits and compacting each layer as it is placed. In fact, this method totally eliminates any need for compaction. The speed of placement of dredged material, however, far exceeds any conventional equipment. And what's more, if good river sand is utilized, no compaction whatsoever is required. (TRRL)
