BLUEPRINT OF AN ANALYSIS OF THE PEDESTRIAN'S TASK - I. METHOD OF ANALYSIS
Within the framework of a child traffic education research project a preliminary analysis of the pedestrian task was made. This analysis is to serve as an aid for the formulation of educational objectives and for the systematic ordering of empirical data concerning actual task performance and relevant psychological abilities. The method followed in the analysis is described in the present paper. By means of a behaviour-requirement analysis 26 pedestrian tasks were formulated in which the behaviors and psychological processes are described that are considered necessary for an adequate, that is, safe task performance. A detailed description of all tasks is added as an appendix. For each of the (sub-) tasks all available task relevant information in terms of accidents, behavior, exposure, psychological functions and results of training experiments is listed in a separate report.(a) (TRRL)
