URBAN ROADS - CONCERNS OF THE 1980'S

Aspects discussed include the future availability and price of fuel for transport, future road travel and its likely effect on the urban environment and related matters, the management of traffic demand, and considerations relating to urban development. The prospect for the 1980's is that urban road travel will continue to increase, that in general current problems will worsen, and that the effects of road congestion will increase. The paper also briefly refers to travel in low density urban areas, and resolution of community conflict. (Author/TRRL)
