NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM ENROUTE STAGE A SYSTEM ENGINEERING AND ANALYSIS, INVESTIGATION OF SYSTEM PROBLEMS, CAPACITY TESTING

A series of special engineering tests was designed to determine what, if any, capacity limitations would occur when NAS 3d1 was operated under steadily increasing traffic load. The tests were performed at the National Aviation Facility Experimental Center (NAFEC) employing the Digital Simulation Facility and the System Support Facility. Both the Display Channel Complex and the Computer Display Channel modes of operation were investigated. NAS 3d1 successfully met capacity test criteria. This report describes these tests and the results obtained. (Author)
