SYNCHRONIZATION STATION LOCATION STUDY, CALIBRATION STUDY PHASE

The purpose of this contract is to determine siteing criteria and installation priority for deployment of ground stations that provide precision time service to NAS. The study contract is being performed in three overlapping stages; methodology development, calibration, and trade-off analyses. The calibration phase reported here validates critical and sensitive aspects of the methodology and provides the basis for selecting and executing particular trade-off analyses. Several non-hierarchal aircraft population models and several measures of system effectiveness was investigated. The conclusion is reached that a set of master station sites can be selected which obtain very high levels of all examined effectiveness measures when servicing any foreseeable population of non-hierarchal aircraft.
