THE DISCHARGE OF RAINWATER FROM HIGHWAY DRAINAGE CHANNELS BY MEANS OF ABSORBENT PITS
LO SMALTIMENTO A MEZZO DEI POZZI ASSORBENTI DELLE ACQUE METEORICHE RACCOGLIENTESI NELLE TRINCEE STRADALI
This article deals with the construction and maintenance of dead pits for the discharge of rain water from highway drainage channels. Pit discharge flows (according to the dupuit formula) are analysed for absorbent pits in permeable soil, pits in soil having an upper impermeable layer, shallow pits and grouped pits, and dead pits constructed of concrete. The design and location of pits with regard to the water table is discussed. (TRRL)
