APPROPRIATE ANIMAL DRAWN COMPACTION FOR RURAL ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORKS
Recognising the importance and immediate needs for the development of appropriate road construction equipment for use in rural areas in India, two different types of animal drawn road rollers and water bowsers developed at crri have been described in detail. Salient design aspects, performance evaluation, materials involved, construction procedures and costs, as well as maintenance aspects of the equipment are discussed. The equipment developed is considered most appropriate and relevant to the conditions in rural areas. (TRRL)
