THE ROLE OF LPG IN FUEL CONSERVATION

This paper discusses the need for and the advantages of lpg as an alternative fuel to petrol. Factors affecting the rate of acceptance of lpg as a transport fuel, both economic and technical, are discussed with the emphasis on the conversion of existing petrol engined vehicles to lpg and dual fuel operation. Some figures of exhaust emissions from converted vehicles are given and the advantages of the fuel discussed. Current developments and the necessary action for a greater acceptance are outlined (a).
