OPERATING COSTS OF LORRIES. ANALYSIS OF CHANGEABLE COSTS

The aim of this work was to investigate the costs of different types of hauliers and to make suggestions on reducing costs. A questionnaire was sent out. The single factor that influences operating costs most is the driver - his handling of the vehicle, way of driving, breaking of the laws, accidents and so on. Using the right type of lorry, size and equipment, regular control of the engine, reconditioning of tyres, are examples of measures that save costs. (TRRL)
