TIME-DEPENDENT FLUCTUATIONS OF CAR TRAFFIC IN URBAN AREAS

BILTRAFIKENS TIDSVARIATIONER I TAETORT

The report contains a compilation of data describing the time-dependent fluctuations of car traffic in urban areas. The data have been obtained mainly from traffic counts performed by municipalities. Examples on fluctuation patterns for different types of streets situated in different areas are shown and discussed. Curves describing the yearly, weekly and daily fluctuations are presented. In addition a few examples are given on the distribution of hourly flows covering the complete period of one year. Typical curves describing various types of fluctuations separated by different types of streets are presented where the available data are sufficient. (TRRL)
