IMPROVED TRANSPORTATION PLANNING THROUGH EDUCATION, APPLICATION, AND COORDINATION

Five multi-disciplinary and multi-audience seminars were conducted to improve transportation education, management, and planning. General seminar goals were to create awareness of transportation and to improve resource utilization. Objectives and audiences varied among the seminars. One seminar sought to attract persons to transportation careers through early career guidance and curriculum development. Two seminars applied management tools to transportation problems for the benefit of transportation decision-makers from the private and government sectors. Another seminar emphasized coordinated regional transportation planning among public agencies. A final seminar introduced transportation issues and research needs to social scientists and invited their involvement.
