PREDICTION OF SINKAGE AND TRIM FOR SHIPS
A method is presented for computing the sinkage and trim of a thin ship with finite draft steaming at a constant speed in an otherwise undisturbed sea. The algorithm is essentially an extension of that developed by Yeung in an earlier paper. A crude method of accounting for the effects of viscous effects is also included. The resulting theoretical predictions appear to yield a substantial improvement over Yeung's earlier calculations and also are very close to measured values of sinkage and trim for a wide variety of hull forms.
