Volume V contains a summary of the organization and management activities of the MTA, New York City Transit Authority, and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). It includes the major conclusions and recommendations dealing with the management structure and organization of LIRR and TA and a detailed analysis of current practices, deficiencies, and needs in the area of management training and development. Case studies of specific management systems and techniques in the TA and LIRR are also presented.
