Environmental Scan of Ride Share Services Available for Older Adults
This environmental scan focused on obtaining information about U.S. ride share services designed to serve older adults and those services that include older adults in their service population. The scan was based on data from a literature review, stakeholder interviews, ITNAmerica's ride scheduling software and research database (ITNRides), and ITNAmerica's senior transportation provider database (Rides in Sight). This report includes an overview of ride share services, including non-profit, volunteer, and for-profit services; characteristics of older adults who use ride share services; characteristics of ride share services available for older adults; and barriers and facilitators of ride share service use by older adults. In addition, it discusses the role of public policy and market forces in ride share availability for older adults and the future potential of ride share services.
