ALARM BUTTON ALWAYS WITHIN REACH: CAR EMERGENCY RADIO IMMEDIATELY REPORTS ACCIDENT AND SITE POSITION

ALARMKNOPF IMMER IN REICHWEITE: AUTONOTFUNK MELDET SOFORT UNFALL UND STANDORT

Aeg introduced the car emergency radio system on the 8th of January 1980 as part of a programme promoted by the Federal Research Ministry. The system consists of a car-borne radio transmitter, several relay stations and a rescue control centre. By pressing the button in an emergency a radio telegram is transmitted which is received by a number of surrounding relay stations and further transmitted. By the use of radio bearings the position of the emergency call is ascertained. Only the control centre has the potential to make and subsequently remove a speech connection. By the use of this instrument system, which should cost less than 300 dm, it should be possible to substantially improve reporting, which is at present the weakest link in the emergency-rescue chain. Trials will be carried out during 1980 in the darmstadt area. (TRRL)
