CONTAINER SHIP MOTION CRITERIA
In the planning of a new container terminal it was found necessary to conduct analyses in an effort to minimise harbour oscillations and ship motions, and define the practical limits for container ship movement. The article describes the studies undertaken to define container ship motions acceptance criteria, and their use in selecting terminal layouts to ensure that the facilities provide a protected harbour.
