Sustainable Asphalt Pavements: A Practical Guide, How to Develop a Sustainability Program
This guide focuses on the development of sustainability programs for those in the asphalt industry. These programs may include elements such as health and safety, supporting the community, environmental protection, business resilience, or employee engagement. Five basic steps are outlined: pre-planning, plan development, implementation, reporting, and continuous improvement. Corporate sustainability reporting is discussed including sustainability goals, sustainability reporting standards, and data collection for sustainability goal reporting. Examples of industry sustainability programs and sustainability reporting metrics from various companies are highlighted. The guide concludes with implementation best practices as identified through interviews of industry personnel.
