Bus Rapid Transit in Solo, Indonesia: Lessons from a low ridership system

This article investigates the policies surrounding Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Solo, Indonesia. The authors examine the history and challenges of developing BRT systems and how that applies to a city with low transit and high motorcycle usage such as Solo. They question why ridership is low on newly developed transit investments, finding that the new system is not a suitable replacement for the already existing informal means of transit.
