VIBRATORY TEE GUIDE DEVICE FOR MAKING DUMMY JOINTS IN CONCRETE PAVEMENTS
One of the major problems of concrete pavements in the country is defective construction of dummy contraction joints which which become vulnerable under traffic and spall. The Paper describes the development of a simple and efficient vibratory "T" guide device for making improved dummy contraction joints in concrete pavements. Full-scale trials have shown that the joints formed with the new device are clean and smooth. Compared with the conventionally formed joints, they do not crumble or spall while the device is inserted into or removed from the concrete, thus requiring no dressing with mortar. The device enables faster construction of joints vis-a-vis conventional practices. (Author)
