KNOWLEDGE GAINED FROM TESTS ON MODEL CONTAINERSHIPS

ERKENNTNISSE AUS MODELLVERSUCHEN FUER CONTAINERSCHIFFE

This paper surveys the activities of the "Versuchsanstalt fuer Wasserbau und Schiffbau" Berlin, which like those of other towing tanks, were strongly influenced by tests carried out for container ships. The fast development of size, capacity and speed of those ships necessitated intense model testing with respect to optimum lines, as well as investigations with respect to high shaft powers.
