ASSESSING FUTURE RO-RO HANDLING EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Extensive studies recently conducted by Contec, the West German transport consultants, conclude it is the roll-trailer system which will dominate the ro-ro handling sector in the future. This article discusses how Contec came to this conclusion. Observations are made as to the handling cost of different ro-ro equipment and also concerning design trends within this sector.
