TECHNICAL REPORT - PRESTRESSING STEEL: 6. THE INFLUENCE OF STRAY ELECTRICAL CURRENTS ON THE DURABILITY OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURES
This report attempts to clarify the problem presented by the effect of stray electric currents upon the corrosion of reinforcement in concrete structures, and thus to establish a basis for the assessment of situations encountered in practice. There are 10 chapters as follows: (1) introduction; (2) stray currents; (3) anodic corrosion effects; (4) cathodic effects; (5) stray current influences in concrete; (6) factors affecting the embrittlement of prestressing steel; (7) quantitative data and calculations; (8) protection against harmful effects; (9) review and conclusions; and (10) further research.
