Hazards Associated with HSR Operations Adjacent to Conventional Tracks – Enhanced Literature Review Part III: Literature Review
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) set out to develop a guidance document which provides information on the design considerations and potential risk mitigations for high-speed rail (HSR) systems adjacent to and sharing corridors with existing conventional railway operations. The objective of this project is to provide input to and support the development of the guidance document by conducting a comprehensive literature review of the 11 hazards associated with HSR operations adjacent to conventional tracks that were identified by the FRA. This report is the third part of the three-part project that consists of two parts. The first part presents a comprehensive literature review of the 11 hazards and other miscellaneous studies associated with HSR operations adjacent to conventional tracks. The second part of this report presents the prioritization of the importance of the hazards and the identification of potential strategies to mitigate the effects of the high-priority hazards.
