This design example, steel truss member strengthening, involves the addition of steel cover plates to steel truss members, one-tension member and one-compression member. The bridge is to be strengthened to meet HL-93 design loading (Existing bridge designed for HS-15 live load). This example is based on AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, 7th Edition.
