Parramatta rail link
The Parramatta Rail Link is a major public transport initiative aimed at improving the performance of the existing rail network and meeting the changing travel needs of Sydney's population. The new 27-kilometre railway will link Parramatta and Chatswood via Epping with some 19 kilometres of this constructed in tunnel. The project will add five new stations to the current network and seven existing stations will be upgraded or rebuilt. Construction is due to start in 2001 and train services will commence in 2006.
