BHP Wongawilli refuse replacement project
Work on the Wongawilli Refuse Emplacement Project was commenced in 1985 to meet the need for sites to dispose of refuse material such as coal wash, required by BHP Slab and Plate Products Division, Port Kembla NSW. Existing refuse disposal sites were nearing their capacity and new sites had to be investigated.
