24-Inch Force Main by HDD for Dallas Water Utilities
The Cypress Waters Phase Two Lift Station and Force Main project involved the design and construction of a 9 million gallon per day (MGD) lift station and 15,000 linear feet of 24-inch high density polyethylene (HDPE) force main in far northwest Dallas near Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport. Approximately 4,000 linear feet of force main was installed in the median of Belt Line Road through the city of Coppell. In order to maintain traffic flow and minimize disruption to the roadway corridor, the force main was installed by horizontal directional drill (HDD) in four sections, each with its own set of unique challenges. Construction of the horizontal directional drills spanned 4 months and was completed in September 2017.
